“Family planning is also essential to preventing unplanned pregnancies and keeping the family in good shape, as well as enabling the family to live stress-free and meaningful life,’’ she said.
Afachung said the organisation was out to create adequate awareness about the knowledge of, and the use and benefit of modern contraceptives.
She said it was also out to facilitate the demand, accessibility and acceptance of family planning.
“The programme is targeting women in `crude localities’, especially those with little access to basic amenities and who are prone to health challenges.
“It is also being extended to every other individual within the productive age.
“As it is, the programme has achieved creditably well, and its synergy with religious and traditional leaders has boosted the propagation and acceptance of family planning,’’ Afachung.
She pointed out that the organisation had also trained service providers who would help influence behavioural change, spousal communication, user confidence and provide relevant advice when needed to prospective users.(NAN)
