Osogbo – An Economist, Dr Sola Adigun on Tuesday, called on the Federal Government to make the real sector of the economy work as a matter of priority.
Adigun, the Executive Director of Macro Consult, said that the resuscitation of the real sector of the economy became imperative in the face of incessant drop in oil price in the world market.
The expert told newsmen that the dwindling oil resources had adversely affected the fortune of the nation in no small way, and the only way out of this mess “is a functional real sector’’.
According to him, manufacturing firms in the country must be made to function to capacity to cushion the effect of the decline in the oil fund and also create employment.

He opined that the real sector of the economy had the potential to generate foreign earnings for the country if properly harnessed.
Adigun urged the Federal Government to give genuine waivers to manufacturers to produce at an affordable price in the domestic market and make exportation easier.
“It is high time the government started thinking about the need to make the real sector of the economy functional to reduce the adverse effect of the drop in the oil price on the economy.
“It is obvious that the present energy crisis in the country will not help the real sector of our economy so, government needs to intervene and revive the sector without delay. (NAN)
