According to BBC, the blast hit Damaturu town at about 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT).
“There were reports of casualties being brought into hospitals, but it is not clear if there were any deaths,” it wrote.
“There was an explosion outside a soccer viewing centre here in Damaturu at around 20:15,” Sanusi Ruf’ai, police commissioner for Yobe state, told AFP news agency, according to BBC.
“Our men have deployed to the scene but it’s too early for us to give details.”
A number of states, notably Plateau and Adamawa, placed an indefinite ban on the running of viewing centres during the World Cup, following a bomb attack at a viewing centre in Jos, capital of Plateau State on May 24, 2014.
