Explosions rock Gombe governor’s house


There was pandemonium in front of the private residence of the Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, following an explosion that targeted a police armoured personnel carrier stationed there.

The residence also serves as the governors’ official residence. Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, an indigene of the state who has close ties to the governor confirmed the incident.

While confirming the explosion, Jalo described the incident as the outcome of “an accidental discharge” by policemen on guard duty.

He said, “It is true that there was some kind of explosion in an armoured car near the House of the Governor of Gombe State. It was not a bomb attack.

“There was an accidental discharge, I cannot confirm casualties yet but I understand there were some.”

It was learnt that the explosion caused panic among residence of the area security personnel have cordoned off the area as at the time of filing this report. (Punch)
