ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Kayode Ajulo on Friday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to stop flying around the world, and face the myriad of challenges confronting the country.
Ajulo, who spoke in Abuja, observed that the situation in Nigeria requires a President that is always on ground. He, however, advised Buhari to delegate some of his international trips to relevant ministers.
He described as “unfortunate and abnormal” Buhari’s incessant trips at a time there are allegations of missing soldiers, excruciating economic situation, scarcity of fuel, as well as untamed terrorist attacks.
According to him, ministers are well positioned to do the travels, while Mr. President, who also doubles as the petroleum minister, stays back to address so many pressing national issues.
He went further to relate Buhari’s uncontrollable travels to earlier insinuations that he disguises under official trips to attend to his medical needs.
“Nigerian situation needs attention more than anything else. Ministers are well positioned to do what he is traveling to do. Nigerians voted for him to take care of national problems first, not only on foreign affairs.
“What we should urge him is to stay back and take care of things. Nigerians voted him as President and not minister of foreign affairs or President of international community.
“We all saw what happened recently when France was attacked. The President stayed at home and showed that he was on ground. Boko Haram strikes here everyday and more than the number killed in France die here every time. There is also an issue of whether 160 soldiers are missing or not, yet, we have a Commander-in-Chief, who is not even on ground, then something is wrong.

“Unless he wants Nigerians to read meaning to his travelings. As we know, anybody above 70 years is prone to illness. There is tendency for incapacitation for anybody above 70 all over the world.
“That is the reason the Supreme Court judge is expected to retire at 70. Except he wants us to insinuate that his incessant traveling is to take care of one ailment or the other,” Ajulo said.
