The head Coach Female U-20 Football team, the Falconets, Peter Dedevbo, said on Thursday that the team would beat Tunisia in their World Cup qualifier on Dec.13 in Abuja.
Dedevbo said this when he addressed newsmen after the team’s friendly game with the Abuja All Stars male team at the Package B of the National Stadium in Abuja which ended 2-2.
Yetunde Adeboye got the goals for the Falconets in the second half while Chidi Eriobu also got a brace against the Falconets with strikes in each half of the game.
The coach had separated the female team into two with each of the groups playing in each half.
He said that with the performance of the two groups, especially the girls that played the second half, he was optimistic of victory over the Tunisians.
According to him, the girls that played in the first half are the substitute players for the regulars.
“I will give my team 50 per cent for this match because the first group that played in the first half were my substitutes, I wanted them to play so I can select my reserves.
“With the second group that played in the second half, I can definitely say that we are going to beat Tunisia in our next game because they are able to pull the weight,“ he said.
The Vice President of All stars, Bolade Dokunmu, said that the performance of the U-20 team was commendable given that they played against older male team.
“The girls really tried. I commend their performance, especially those that played in the second half because playing with a male team is not easy and they were able to get a draw.
“By my assessment, this team will qualify for the world cup,” he said.
