The family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe has responded to an article published on October 13, 2024, titled “Family Dispute Erupts Over Estate of Late Banking Executive Herbert Wigwe.”
The family expressed disappointment over the spread of the article across social and national media, emphasizing the importance of accurate reporting.
In their statement, they clarified that Pastor Shyngle Wigwe has never asked for 20% of Herbert Wigwe’s estate, nor has any other family member made such a request. The family strongly denied the claim that this supposed demand contradicts Herbert Wigwe’s will, calling it “entirely false and misleading.” They pointed out that the true details of the estate are available at the Probate Registry, where an affidavit provides the correct information. The family noted that reporters could have easily verified this with a simple search.
The family is focused on grieving and healing together during this difficult time and has no interest in engaging in public disputes. They affirmed that Herbert Wigwe’s legacy as a transformative banker and entrepreneur, who made Access Bank a national leader and contributed to education and healthcare through The HOW Foundation, should be remembered instead of being overshadowed by baseless rumors.
They respectfully requested the publication to correct the inaccuracies and urged greater diligence in fact-checking future reports.
Sincerely,
*Emeka Wigwe for the Family of Pastor Shyngle Wigwe.*
