LAGOS – A 58-year-old farmer, Babatunde Jimoh, was on Monday arraigned in an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly using thugs to prevent one Bolaji Amuda from gaining access to his land.
The accused, who resides at No. 29, Itun Alaja St., Agura area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, is standing trial on a three-count charge which included conspiracy and breach of public peace.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Innocent Odugbu, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offences on Nov. 6, 2014, at 12 noon at Agura area of Ikorodu.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
He said that the accused and others still at large conducted themselves in a manner that nearly caused a breach of public peace.
Odugbu said that the accused forcefully entered into a land that belonged to Amuda and employed the services of thugs to prevent him from accessing it.
He said that the offences contravened sections 52, 166 (d) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Mrs Olumide Fusika, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Fusika said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and their addresses verified by the police.
She adjourned the case till March 3 for mention. (NAN)
