Ilorin – A 27-year-old farmer, Mohammed Abdullahi, was on Tuesday arraigned before an ilorin Magistrate’s Court for allegedly attempting to kill a cattle rearer, Shaibu Zakariyau.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Mathew Ologbonsaye, told the court that the accused matcheted the victim on the neck, hand and head, to a state of coma.
Ologbonsaye said the accused matched the victim on the false accusation of allegedly grazing his cows to destroy his rice farm on Oct. 25, at Pategi, in Kwara.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
The prosecutor said that the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor objected to the bail application of the accused, urging the court to remand him, pending the outcome of investigations.
The defence counsel, Mr S.T. Giwa, prayed the court to admit the accused to bail, pending the determination of the case.
Magistrate kalejaiye Yahaya upheld the submission of the defence and admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
The court adjourned the case till Nov. 18, for further mention. (NAN)
