Lagos – Father of an accused in a case of theft, Sule Abdullahi, 66, was on Monday arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly aiding his son to escape arrest.
The accused was arraigned on a two-count charge of aiding his son’s escape and refusing to disclose his whereabouts.
Abdullahi, who resides at No 33 Jakande Estate, Ajah, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The Prosecutor, ASP Ignatius Okeke told the court that the accused committed the offences on April 15 at about 11:00a.m at Jakande First Gate, Lekki Lagos.
He added that the accused aided the son’s escape and refused to disclose his whereabouts.
The son was alleged to be involved in a case of theft of N825,000, property of one Waheed Popoola.
Okeke said that the police later gathered through a `tip-off’ that the son absconded to Niger Republic.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 107 (1) and 413 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr Ade Adefuilire granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case to June 16 for mention. (NAN)
