Sometimes in 2010, when the Ekiti rerun between Kayode Fayemi and Segun Oni was to hold, a certain AYO FAYOSE was the beautiful bride. Then ACN leaders were all over him.

Tinubu called for a meeting at one of his offices on Karim Ikotun Street, Victoria Island Lagos. Present were Fayemi, Babafemi Ojudu, Debo Adesina, SAN, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Fayose himself and Tinubu.

ACN’s demand? Fayose should work against Segun Oni and deliver for them.

Fayose’s condition: I want to go to the Senate. Assist me. I can NEVER defect to your party but don’t present candidate against me or present a weak one.

ACN leaders agreed and Fayose worked like hell for Fayemi against Oni and the latter was booted out of office.

A year later, 2011, ACN presented Babafemi Ojudu against Fayose and campaigned against him vigorously. They used same issues to de-market him. He lost.

Three years later, Fayose was to run against Fayemi as governor and he defeated him.

As one Egbon told me this morning:

“ACN to APC, they are half smart and will never keep an agreement. Go and check their antecedents. If they had allowed Fayose to go to Senate, chances were that he won’t contest against Fayemi three years later!”

My Take:
When you demonise a particular politician and call him names all because of his party affiliation, those you see as saints know they would always need him. As Egbon, Dapo Rotifa, alluded, Bola Ige issue always comes up during election in Osun.

Those who usually bring up the murder of Ige any time Omisore is contesting were in his house yesterday to seek his help.

Just less than TWO weeks they practically called him a murderer.
