OSOGBO – The PDP candidate in the Aug. 9 governorship election in Osun, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, has described the result of the Ekiti governorship election as the voice of the people.
A statement from Mr Diran Odeyemi, the Director of Media and Strategy in Omisore’s campaign organisation, in Osogbo on Sunday said the emergence of Mr Ayo Fayose as the governor-elect showed that the people had made their choice.
Omisore, who congratulated the governor-elect, also described his emergence as “a true reflection of the wishes of the people of Ekiti”.
The politician noted that for Fayose to have emerged victorious in spite of all the challenges he had, indicated the determination of the people for better governance.
According to him, the doggedness demonstrated by Fayose has laid a solid foundation for the struggle by the people of the South West to return to the PDP.
“The people of Ekiti have spoken. They have chosen a courageous leader who will protect their interest and return their pride,” he said.
Similarly, Chief Lere Oyewumi, the Director-General of the Iyiola Omisore Campaign Organisation, said Fayose’s victory confirmed the people’s preference for the PDP.
Oyewumi said the Osun chapter of the PDP was ready to build on the success the party recorded in Ekiti and replicate it on Aug. 9.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Fayose as the winner of the governorship poll held in Ekiti on Saturday.
Fayose defeated the incumbent, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, of the All Progressives Party and Mr Opeyemi Bamidele, the flag bearer of the Labour Party. (NAN)
