ABUJA – The Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) recorded high turnout of staff after the Easter holiday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
NAN correspondent who went round FCDA noticed that there was a large turnout of staff as the car park was filled with cars.
Mr Paul Nwafiudo, a staff of the administration, said he was surprised to find lot of civil servants in their offices.
Nwafiudo said that before and after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, FCDA was always deserted due to fear of election violence.
“Because of fear of election violence, many people were not coming to work; but after the result was announced, the place is as busy as expected.’’
Another staff of the FCDA, Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, said that the Easter holiday was long enough for any civil servant to resume work.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Mohammed said he was in the office to carry out his duty and so advised all civil servants who were absent from duty to resume work.
“I believe that not everybody is in the office; if heads of departments will give query to those absent, people will wake up.’’
Again, Mrs Philomena Johnson told NAN that she did not see a space to park her car because she came late to work, adding:“I thought many people will not come to work today’’.
Johnson applauded the staff and advised that they should continue with such attitude.
NAN also went to the Millennium Park, Abuja, and National Children Park and Zoo, to ascertain the cleanliness of the parks after the Easter holiday.
At the Millennium Park Abuja, both the car park and the relaxation area had been cleaned up.
Mr Musa Bako, a worker, said that the park was being managed by a private company,Salini Nigeria Limited.
Bako said the cleaners come at 6a.m. to sweep the park everyday stressing that “whether it is holiday or not, the place is kept clean.’’
NAN reports that the National Children Park and Zoo was also clean. (NAN)
