Abuja – The FCT Secondary Education Board Chairman, Musa Muhammad, has urged teachers in the FCT to show more commitment to work with a pledge that the board would always reward hard work and creativity.
Muhammad said this at a meeting with staff of the board and the 62 senior secondary school principals on Tuesday in Abuja.
The chairman, who unveiled his plan titled: “Eight point Agenda’’ said it will focus on capacity building, manpower development, effective monitoring and evaluation of academic activities.
Others are provision of physical and instructional materials in schools to enhance learning and teaching processes, staff welfare, and zero tolerance for corruption.
He said that the board is also committed to the establishment of new secondary schools and upgrading of the existing ones, improvement in sport activities and provision of adequate security.
The agenda also has integration of school system into website to fast track the accessibility of student`s performances and other relevant information anywhere in the world.
Muhammad also emphasised the need for staff to carry out their schedule with high sense of responsibility while eschewing negative tendencies.
The chairman assured of a paradigm shift in the management of Senior Secondary Schools in the FCT to a more practical, effective, efficient and result oriented system.
He also stressed the need for a more robust ICT in the senior secondary education system where parents can access their children’s academic performances and relate with the teachers.
One of the board members, Mr Sunny Moniedafe said the vital role of teachers cannot be over emphasized, as the teaching of students are like the seed that grow and yield good success.
He urged school heads to help the students under their custody to achieve their individual destiny, adding that the future of this country lies in the school administrators’ hands.
Hajiya Binta Nasir, Vice President 1 of the All Nigeria confederation of principals of secondary schools (ANCOPSS), on behalf of the principals, express their willingness to work with the board members.
She said that they would work towards achieving all round academic success for the students and FCT, while intensifying their efforts to produce responsible and good students. (NAN)
