Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the FCT will conduct election into the six areas councils on March, 19, 2016.
Prof. Jacob Jatau, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the FCT made the disclosure on Thursday in Abuja at the presentation of election time table for the poll.
He called on residents who were transferred to the FCT to apply for the transfer of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), adding that the exercise was currently being undertaken in the secretariat of the area councils.
He stressed for the need for peaceful, fair and transparent election in the territory and called on the youths to shun violence in order to make the exercise a success story.
“I will like to appeal to the political class and the electorate, especially the youths to shun violence and obey the rules to guarantee free, fair and credible polls.
“We will be fair to all the parties and will provide a level playing field to ensure full participation and fair contest,’’ he said, adding that the commission was committed to the principle of neutrality and impartiality.
The REC said that the date for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), would be announced to enable residents who have clocked 18 years to register for the election.

According to the time-table, electoral activities would commence on Nov. 26, while party primaries would commence from Nov. 26 to Dec. 17. (NAN)
