ABUJA – NYSC Football Club on Monday in Abuja defeated Sporting BOG (Blessing of God) FC by a lone goal in the ongoing 2014 FCT League.
The match at the Area 3 sports complex, which was the third match of the day, saw both teams give good account of themselves.
Sporting FC’s stricker Tony Peter send a good shot from outside the penalty box in the 27th minutes into the game which was parried by his opponent’s goalkeeper, Amos Ezeoku
NYSC’s striker, Odigue Uche, converted a free kick to give his side the first goal in the 52nd minute of the game.
Sporting came close to getting an equaliser in the 74th minutes through striker, Nathaniel Gibri, but was tackled by Amos Ezeoku of NYSC FC.
All efforts made by Sporting to get an equaliser failed to yield positive results as the encounter ended 1-0 at end the of regulation time.
Rotimi Bello, NYSC coach, said he was happy that his team won in spite of playing below expectation.
“I am happy we won two matches which is the most important thing, we have six points now,” he said.
Sporting BOG FC Coach Osaluwe Collins said his boys played very well but were unfortunate to have lost the match.
“They are not better than us, we had an accident on our way to the stadium and our bus almost caught fire.
“The fatigue cause my players to play below expectation; we have three points now, we will catch up in the next match,” Collins said. [eap_ad_1] The fourth match of the day saw Camp United drew 2-2 with Diamond Star FC.
Both teams struggled to edge each other out in an end-to-end game, but their failure to utilise their scoring chances ensured the match ended 2-2 at regulation time.
NAN reports that the first round matches of the FCT league which kicked off on Aug. 27 will end on Oct. 20.
A total of 48 teams are participating in the league to select one representative for the FCT at the zonal play-off for qualification into Division 3 of the Nigeria Nationwide League. (NAN)
