ABUJA – Waco Boys Football Club on Wednesday in Abuja defeated Shining Star FC 3-1 in the ongoing 2014 FCT League.
Both teams gave a good account of themselves in the match played at the Area 3 sports complex.
In the third match played at the Area 3 Sports Complex, Waco Boys dominated the game as they pressed their opponent.

Waco Boys midfielder Chukwudi Josiah opened scoring in the 12th minute of the game with a good shot from outside the penalty box that escaped his opponent’s goalkeeper, Danjuma Audu
Micheal Lawrence of Waco Boys doubled the tally for his team in the 45th minute which saw them dominating the first half of the game.
Waco Boys attacker Victor Okechukwu made it three for his team through a penalty kick in the 89th minute which made them controlled the game.
Shining Star, Ikokwu Raphael, targeted at the goalpost through a free kick to score the first goal for his team two minute towards the end of the match.
Coach Aweta Ikeme , Waco Boys FC Coach, said he was happy with the outcome of the game.
“I am happy that we won this game, the field and the sun were not allowing my players to performed up to expectation, but I am happy with the result
“We are leading the league with seven points, we have only one match left, I believe we will come out victorious
Shining Star Coach, Shagari Yakubu said he was disappointed with the central referee
“The central referee was working in favour of my opponent’s team. I was once a player of Waco Boys.
“My boys tried, we will go home and correct our lapses.’’
In second match, Castled Football Club defeated Diamond FC 2-1
Lawrence Wisdom of Diamond FC had a one-on-one encounter with the Castle keeper in the 22nd minute of the game.
Castle attacker Adams Bolaji at the 65th minute shot cross which Diamond keeper punched into the net to make the first score for his team.
Nwanosike Stanley of Diamond made a rough tackle inside the 18 box that gave Castle a chance to play a penalty kick Ajakiaye Friday scored, making it 2-1.
The earlier match played saw Rock FC defeated Young Planners by 1-0.
Forty-eight teams are participating in the league out of which one will emerge to represent the FCT at the zonal play-offs for qualification into Division 3 of the Nigeria Nation-wide League. (NAN)
