ABUJA – Youth Arise Football Club on Friday in Abuja defeated Zaizi Football Club by a lone goal in the ongoing 2014 FCT League.
The first half of the game, played at the Area 3 Sports Complex, saw both teams display good attacking flair and blow good scoring chances.
The second half was not different from the first until at the 78th minute when Youth Arise took over the game with a wonderful goal from the team’s attacker, Amandeh Manasseh.
All efforts made by Zaizi to get an equaliser failed to yield positive results as the encounter ended 1-0 at regulation time.
Manasseh told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the match that he is ready to score more goals.
“I am very happy my team came out with good result in today’s match and for the fact that I was the one that scored the winning goal.
“As it is now, I am ready to score more goals in our next encounter,’’ he said.
Olagbemiro Olayinka, the coach of Youth Arise FC, told NAN that he was glad his team won the match.
“I am glad to see my team come out victorious today; it’s a thing of joy knowing that we won after the hard work.
“But I expected them to score more because they played well and had good chances to score more goals.
“We will go back home and work on our lapses in order to use good opportunities when faced with one in our next match,’’ he said.
Musa Yahaya, the coach of Zaizi FC, said he accepted the result, adding that the team would do well in the next game.
“The game went well, my boys’ performance today was poor, we will go back home and prepare for our next match,’’ Musa said.
NAN reports that Youth Arise Football Club won three matches and drew two in the FCT league. (NAN)
