Abuja – The FCT Police Command said it had arrested five suspected rustlers with 108 cows and 18 rams.
The FCT Police Commissioner, Mr Wilson Inalegwu, made the disclosure while presenting the suspects to newsmen on Monday in Abuja.
Inalegwu said that the suspects were arrested on Oct. 27 following a tip-off by police operatives attached to the command.
He said that the suspects had raided and rustled cows and rams from Paraqua village in Jaji, Kaduna State.
“The suspects were arrested at Chitima village, following a discreet operation carried out at the hide- out of the rustlers, and six suspects were arrested,“he said.
The commissioner said that items recovered from the suspects include; two Dane guns, one locally made revolver and a locally made pistol.
Other items are; one double barrel gun, one cutlass and one magazine.
Similarly, he said, the police have arrested eight robbery suspects following discreet operations by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on Oct. 21.

He said items recovered from them include; one pump action gun, three double barrel Dane guns, 50 live cartridges and 41 pieces of empty shells of cartridges.

He said the feat was as a result of proactive intelligence gathering which was complimented with strategic deployment of police personnel on foot, vehicular and static patrols.
“The robust partnership and timely information received from members of the public has also contributed in the successes recorded,’’ he said.
