Abuja – Mr Folusho Adebanjo, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT area councils’ election, has advised residents of the territory to shun violence during the re-election slated for April 13.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah in Abuja on Tuesday.
It would be recalled that elections in some polling units in AMAC, Gwagwalada, Abaji, Kuje and Bwari area councils were declared inconclusive by INEC in the April 9 election.
According to the statement, Adebanjo reiterated the need for politicians and their supporters to imbibe the virtue of good sportsmanship, ahead of the re-run election.
The statement commended the residents for their peaceful conduct during last Saturday’s elections.
It enjoined politicians and their supporters to be guided by the provisions of the Electoral Act as they go for the election.
The statement warned that the command would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who violates the Electoral Act.
The statement encouraged residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities through the FCT Police Command Help lines.(NAN)
