ABUJA – The Director, FCT Department of Tourism, Mrs Irene Elegbede, on Tuesday urged security agencies to scale up security during the New Year celebration and beyond.
Elegbede made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
He, however, commended the security agencies for ensuring that the FCT was properly secured during the last Christmas celebration.
“I hereby give kudos to the Nigerian security forces for maintaining peace that ensured a peaceful Christmas celebration in the federal capital.
“The security personnel were on top of their duties on Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations. I went round Abuja on Christmas and Boxing Day.
“It was awesome, I saw the Inspector General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba on patrol.
“All the security forces in Abuja did a wonderful job and that made Abuja residents enjoyed the celebration without fear,’’ she said.
