ABUJA – The FCT Administration on Monday said it collected and disposed 31,166 tonnes of solid waste at designated sites in the month of July.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Muhammad Sule, Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Alhaji Bala Mohammed, in Abuja.
The statement stated that Bala made the disclosure after the FCTA weekly Operations Briefing in his office.

Bala said the waste was collected and disposed despite the heavy rains that made access to the dump sites difficult.
It stated that 761 street traders and hawkers were arrested, 674 prosecuted and 31 were sentenced to various prison terms.
The statement stated that the administration also arrested 172 beggars and destitute, including 72 minors, and warned that hard times awaited people who constitute environmental nuisances in the FCT.
It stated that the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) inspected 1,976 premises for proper sanitation.
It also staid AEPB fumigated 85 premises during the inspection.
The stated that the meeting had in attendance the FCT Minister of State, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide, FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr John Chukwu, Mandate Secretaries, Directors of the operational departments, among others. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
