ABUJA – The Federal Character Commission (FCC) says it will use its mandate to tackle youth restiveness by ensuring fairness and equal representation in government recruitment in the country.
Mr Ojo Christopher, Commissioner for Ekiti in the commission, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday that if the vibrant youths were gainfully employed, they would not engage in vices that could jeopardise national unity.
He said the commission was well positioned to address the issues of unemployment in the country by not allowing lopsidedness in the recruitment of organisations.
Christopher said it was the duty of the commission to ensure that every federating unit had its share of the “national cake’’.
“The federal character commission is also well positioned to address the problems of insecurity in the country because joblessness is the cause of insecurity.

“We will use subsequent recruitment in organisations to correct the lopsidedness that exists so that it can bring national unity.
“We analyse the nominal rolls of every organisation every year to detect states that are either under or over represented,’’ Christopher said.
He said it was important for ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to intimate the commission with their recruitment at any given time. (NAN)
