The Federal Government has charged Bello Bodejo, the leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore group, with offenses related to terrorism.
Bodejo appeared before a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly establishing and supporting an ethnic militia group called Kungiya Zaman Lafiya.
He pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge filed by the Attorney General of the Federation, accusing him of violating the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered Bodejo to remain detained in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency and set the trial to commence on May 27. Bodejo’s arrest followed the launch of a vigilante group by Miyetti Allah, aimed at addressing security challenges in Nasarawa State.
Despite filing a fundamental rights suit challenging his detention, Bodejo was granted a 15-day detention by Justice Ekwo, who instructed the Federal Government to either press charges or release him.
