The senator representing Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, has built and donated a two-bedroom bungalow each to six indigent families in the constituency.

Nwoye also built six classroom blocks and over 143 lock-up shops in markets located in Onitsha and Ogbaru Local Government Areas of the state to boost learning among youths, empower residents and boost commercial activities in the areas.

During the handing over of the facilities at the constituency on Thursday, the Labour Party lawmaker said the gesture was part of his celebration of one year of “impactful and purposeful” leadership in Anambra North Senatorial district.

He said, “This gesture is the least of my accomplishments in my first year in office. It is evidence of my dedication and efforts to improve the lives of my constituents in the Anambra North Senatorial District and Anambra State.

“These numerous infrastructure projects, empowerment programmes, and motions/bills demonstrate my commitment to the well-being and development of the good people of Anambra North and Anambra State.

“We have initiated and completed numerous infrastructure projects that have significantly improved the living standards of the constituents. The key projects include construction of community market in Umali Akanator Omo junction in Ayamelum LGA; 100 lock-up shops in Anambra -East LGA; fresh fruit market stalls in Okpoko in Ogbaru LGA; 20 boats for fishing, marine ambulance for emergency in case of boat-mishap; training for 80 youths in e-marketing, distributed telephone handsets, laptops, computer sets, refrigerators, 100 power generating sets.”

The senator further attracted the construction of kilometres of roads, including Ifite-Umueri Awkuzu Road, Umuanaevili Road, and Aguleri in Anambra East LGA, empowered about 13,000 persons by distributing to them various facilities that would strengthen them to be self-reliant in their various vocations.

He said he facilitated the construction of Eziafo Road, Ugwuasa Road, the rehabilitation of the Mkpoloakwa-Ojilibu Road spur at Onitsha -Otuocha rehabilitated road at University On The Niger, Umunya, Oyi LGA, and constructed Abata dual carriageway leading to Onitsha -Adani, among several others.

According to Nwoye, the various projects and empowerment facilities were testaments to his passion towards improving the welfare of his constituents.

He, however, promised more achievements to his people within the remaining years.

Nwoye said that in addition to sponsoring motions on tasking issues bordering people of his Anambra North Senatorial district, besides some bills, he has constructed a multi-purpose modern youth centre with hostel in Fegge, Onitsha -South LGA; 23 lock-up shops with solar-powered boreholes, provided overhead tanks, toilet, slaughter market at Onitsha -North LGA, as well as another 20 lock-up shops and community hall computer training building in Ogbaru LGA.
