Ibadan – A member of the House of Representatives, Adedapo Lam-Adeshina, on Wednesday in Ibadan released N5million to 250 traders as part of his empowerment initiative.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Lam-Adeshina (APC-Ibadan South-East/North-East) carried out the initiative under his Omo Olore Business Support Scheme 2016.
Speaking at the forum, the lawmaker said that the empowerment programme was part of his electioneering campaign promises which must be kept.
“What I have come here to do today is not a political jamboree; I have come here today to fulfill one of my promises to the people.

“I have come here to join the international community to celebrate World Women’s Day, which was celebrated yesterday by taking care of our women and the less privileged.
“We also reach out to widows by giving to them a token to build up or start a new business of their own,’’ he said.
Lam-Adeshina, who noted that 95 per cent of the beneficiaries were women, added:
“Some of our women don’t need much money to get their businesses running, most especially during this economic crunch.’’
The lawmaker urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money through productive business activities.
He also urged his colleagues to brace up for the challenges of empowering their people, adding that constituents deserved better living standards. (NAN)
