Minna  –   Members of Staff at the Federal Secretariat, Minna, have expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of the Secretariat that accommodates 32 federal offices and establishments in the state.

Investigation conducted by the correspondent of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Monday reports that offices and toilets were in bad and unhygienic condition.

Mr Moses Habu, a staff of one of the Federal Government agency told NAN that staff members usually sharing offices with reptiles and other ants.

He said that the good thing about the derelict conditions of the offices was that the reptiles are not harmful and the animals understand the workers’ routine.

He stressed that when workers resume in the morning the animals move out while work continues.

According to him, the entire building structures need total rehabilitation to ensure environment conducive for effective implementation of government’s policies and service delivery.

“The Federal Government Secretariat represents the image of the Federal Government, hence the need for adequate funding for the agencies concerned to put things in proper shape” he said.

Mr Felix Appa, Controller Housing sector, told NAN that lack of regular funding was responsible for the decay at the secretariat.

“We have been embarking on internal repairs like painting and fixing toiletries, roofing and other minor repairs but for external repairs we don’t have the financial capacity to embark on such project.

“We are waiting for funds from the headquarters to carry out further repairs, he said.
