Abuja – Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Thursday defeated Kwara United FC 3-2 in the last Round of 16 match in the ongoing men’s competition of the 2015 Federation Cup.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the match played at the Area 3 Football Ground in Abuja, Rangers dominated the game from the onset.
Rahah Adegbite opened scoring for Rangers in the 10th minute of the game with a shot from outside the penalty box, with Evans Iyaro equalising in the 25th minute.
Seven minutes after the resumption of the second half, Bobby Clement restored Rangers’ lead, while Adesina Gata drew Kwara United level again in the 68th minute.
But Emeka Eze went on to score the third goal for Rangers in the 88th minute to seal victory for his team.
Speaking at the end of the game, coach Imama Amapakabo of Rangers International was not really excited about the result of the match.
“My team didn’t play well today (Thursday), even though we are making progress, and we deserve to be in the quarter-finals.
“I am not really impressed with the performance of my team today, and I will score them 40 per cent,’’ he said.
On his part, Tunde Sanni, coach of Kwara United, said he was also not pleased with the performance of his team.
“Today (Thursday) is a bad day for us. We worked for our goals, and our opponents did not struggle. So, I am not impressed with my team’s performance because the players were not focused.
“We lost the game due to lack of concentration. I am not happy, because this is a team we defeated 3-1 in Ilorin in the Glo Premier League,’’ he said.(NAN)
