LAGOS – Sylvester Marcy, the Secretary of Nigeria Taekwondo Coaches and Referees Association, said on Friday official taekwondo referees would have to be registered members.
Marcy told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that their licenses would bear registration numbers and be renewable every year.
“We have now two bodies. One is for the coaches and the other for the referees.
“So, when you register officially to the federation you are given a license as an official taekwondo referee and your license number is there.
“So, every year you renew and if you are not meeting up or you do not attend at least two workshops of that body your license will be withdrawn until you update yourself .’’
He said it was part of the measures adopted to enable the Federation to identify authentic technical officials of the game.
According to him, the policy also aims at repositioning and improving the standard of taekwondo in Nigeria. (NAN)
