Abuja – Mr Femi Branch, actor/filmmaker in Nollywood, on Monday urged breakaway associations in the movie industry to put their differences aside in order to move the industry forward.
Branch, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja said the breakaway associations were not helping the industry, adding that the situation was capable of creating confusion among interested investors, sponsors and the government.
“For instance, investors or interested sponsors would get confused if they keep seeing different associations each day and this will discourage sponsors that might want to invest or support the industry to grow.
“If nothing is done to address this by way of us coming together under one umbrella association, interested persons or bodies might see us as disunited, not knowing what we are doing.
Branch, who expressed the hope that Nollywood would attain greater heights said, “this can only be achieved by having a common goal of promoting Nollywood industry.’’
NAN reports that Branch is a veteran Yoruba and English film actor and a graduate of dramatic arts from Obafemi University, Ile-Ife, Osun.
Branch has featured in almost one hundred Nigerian films including soap operas, some of which he produced and directed.
