The Federal Government has announced that Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, will be public holidays in celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday, which mark the Christian observance of sacrifice and resurrection.
This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who congratulated Christians across the country on the Easter celebration.
Naija News reports that Tunji-Ojo, speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, highlighted the importance of Easter and called on Nigerians to follow the example of Jesus Christ by showing love and making sacrifices for others.
Through the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the Minister also urged citizens to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in Nigeria.
He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on promoting national development and progress.
“Furthermore, he encouraged Nigerians to extend love and goodwill to their neighbours through acts of kindness and generosity,” the statement added.
Tunji-Ojo ended by wishing Christians a joyful Easter celebration and sending warm greetings to all Nigerians during the holiday.
