Dutse – The Federal Government on Friday handed over five tractors and other farming equipment to Savannah Water Resources and Conservation Limited, an Agricultural Equipment Hiring Enterprise (AEHE) in Jigawa.
Alhaji Adamu Labaran, the Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture in the state, handed over the equipment to the company at a ceremony in Dutse.
He said the gesture was government’s initiative to lease and hire out various kinds of agricultural equipment to corporate organisations.
Labaran said on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, he was handing over five tractors, five units of harrows, five units of plough, one unit of tipping tractors to Savannah Water Resources Conservation Ltd. for leasing to farming communities in Jigawa.
The director explained that the agency would in turn lease out the farming implement for land preparation, harvesting, post harvesting, repairs, and maintenance to farmers within their domains.

He announced that service providers that collected the equipment were expected to deposit 20 per cent of the total value of what they collected and they would give the balance within four years.
Air Commodore Musa Fari (rtd), on behalf of directors of the company, thanked the Federal Government for the kind gesture.
Fari said being the first organisation to benefit from the government’s agricultural hiring services in the state they would not betray the confidence reposed in them.
He announced that the farming implement leased out to them, would be stationed at the office premises of Hedejia Jamare River Basin Development Authority in Hadejia.
He gave assurance that government would continue to provide sound agricultural services to farmers in the zone. (NAN)
