The Federal Government has reiterated it’s resolve to strengthen safety and security in the airspace.
Speaking at the inauguration of the airport security sub-committee at the ministry’s headquarters, the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika expressed confidence that the committee which he described as”made up of high level, high ended security personnel” is competent.
The Minister tasked the committee to live up to expectation ” of water tight security and to be proactive in the face of any challenge” .
Responding, the chairman of the committee, AIG Alkali Usman Bala gave assurance that the committee will collectively and with synergy carry out the responsibility.
He said the operation has started already by providing security for those rehabilitating the road and appealed that their requirements be provided to enhance their performance.
The mandate of the committee includes to provide security at Abuja and Kaduna Airport as well as to monitor traffic movement between Abuja and Kaduna.
Members of the committee cut across the Nigerian police, Army,Navy,Air force,Customs,Immigration, NSCDC as well as airport security.
