LAGOS – The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr Godwin Eke, on Friday said the Federal Government would quicken the construction of a pedestrian bridge on the Ojodu Berger axis of Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Eke told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the project engineers had begun feasibility

“It is an emergency situation, I have even directed the project manager to commence immediate feasibility studies so that they can do it and incorporate it even in the design they are doing for that section.
“As soon as they finish that, it is likely they would even do that bridge before expanding the road.
“That bridge is part of the contract of the Lagos-Sagamu road, it is embedded in that contract and we cannot be executing pedestrian bridge when we are still doing construction.
“That is number one, number two, we are yet to determine the extent of our expansion.
“The median is eroded and so when we determine where are expanding the road to, is it toward the median or to the outside?
“We have already located the bridge, one would be there for sure, as soon as possible.’’
NAN reports that pedestrians going to Ojodu, Alagbole, Akute, Isheri and other areas usually crossed the highway, thereby resulting to gridlock and accidents. (NAN)
