ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – The Federal Government Transition Committee on Monday held its inaugural meeting to discuss the terms of reference and develop the guidelines for preparing the handover briefs.
Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting chaired by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, said the committee adjourned to April 20 for a second meeting.
The FG transitional committee will then meet with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari’s transitional on a yet to be determined date, to harmonise the work of the two committees.
Anyim said, “After we have collected our own briefs from the MDAs and then put them together, we will then interface with the other committee so that whatever clarification they want, the questions they have, then we will be able to address them.
“Ours it to collect our own handover briefs, prepare the briefs, prepare the President’s handover notes”, he said.
Asked the specific terms of reference of the committee, Anyim said, “The terms of reference of our own committee is to collate relevant information for the hand over briefs from all the MDAs, prepare them and interface with the incoming administration’s transition committee”.
Asked the timeline of the committee’s work, the SGF said, “There is a natural time line. So every thing about the transition’s mandate will be executed and completed before the swearing in programme”.

The President-elect’s transitional committee is said to be headed by the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was the his running mate in 2011 presidential election.
Other members of the Transitional Committee are the Attorney General of the Federation, the Minister of Police Affairs, Minister of Transport and the Minister of State (Finance), among others.
