LAGOS – FIFA on Tuesday confirmed Hawk-Eye as the official goal-line technology (GLT) provider for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, “Canada 2015’’.

The championship is scheduled to kicks off on June 6 in Edmonton.

According to an official FIFA press release, it will be the first time GLT is implemented in women’s football, following the success of GLT during 2015 Men’s World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

The statement also said this decision was made after FIFA licensed GTL providers were invited in December 2014 for inspection at each of the venues in Canada.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hawk-Eye is a camera-based system, with seven cameras per goal post.
