Fire boss enjoins Lagos residents to be vigilant, conscious

Lagos –  The Director of Fire Service, Lagos State, Mr Rasaq Fadipe, on Wednesday urged Lagos residents to be vigilant and fire conscious.

Fadipe gave this advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

According to him, the advice is necessary following the increase in the number of fire calls to the fire service in a day.

”Lagosians need to be fire conscious as the number of fire calls in a day these days is alarming.

”Just between 2.30a.m and 9a.m this morning alone, there has been three fire calls, only God knows if it will stop at this or it would escalate,” he said.

Fadipe said that on July 28 three calls were also received from various parts of Lagos, where the nearest fire Stations deployed equipment to combat them.

He said that depending on the magnitude of the fire trucks were called from other fire stations to help with the fight.

The Fire Chief said that the fire service had responded to fire calls both from homes, offices and accidents scene involving fuel tankers.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]

He said that having many fire calls per day was not healthy as we are still in rainy season.

Fadipe said that if there was no change of attitude to prevent fire outbreak the number would get out of hand during dry season.

He stressed the need to avoid putting pressure on the fire trucks and the personnel.

NAN reports that fire service has 14 fire stations and 34 fire trucks across the state. (NAN)
