A seven-story building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island caught fire on Tuesday morning, according to the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye.
She reported that on August 16, 2024, at 5:17 a.m., the fire service received an emergency call about the fire affecting several shops on the first floor of the building. Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations quickly responded and arrived at the scene by 5:33 a.m.
Thanks to the swift response of the Lagos State Firefighters, the fire is now under control, and ventilation efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of the area. Preliminary investigations suggest that an electrical surge caused the fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
