Fire destroys 60 stores in weekly market in Pakistan’s Islamabad

Islamabad    –     Authorities said 60 shops were destroyed in a fire
that broke out in a weekly market in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Wednesday.

The thick black plume of fire can be witnessed far away.

According to local reports, at least six fire tenders were participating in the rescue operation.

Fire brigade teams have been called in to douse the blaze that erupted in the market’s garment section.

The cause of the fire is not known yet, said the reports.

The weekly market located in downtown of Islamabad comprises around 2,000 stalls and shops, and opens
only on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
