MAIDUGURI (Sundiata Post) – Mallam Garba Bala Abubakar, the former Registrar of Borno Cooperatives Society, his wife and their two children have reportedly died in a tragic fire outbreak at his residence on Damboa road in Maiduguri, Borno State.
A family source said the incident happened on Sunday morning, August 18, 2024.
He said the sad incident claimed the lives of husband, wife and two daughters.
A friend of the deceased, who confirmed the incident in a Facebook post described Abubakar as a “very humble” and “down to earth” personality.
He said the domestic fire outbreak was suspected to have been ignited by electrical surge.
“The deceased retired as a Chief Registrar of Cooperative Societies with the Borno State Government and later worked with a private borehole drilling company,” he said.
“Not long ago we spoke extensively on contemporary issues and assured him that I would visit him in his new house whenever I happen to be in Maiduguri. Not knowing that was the last time I would hear his voice. Allahu Akbar
“A very humble and down to earth personality is gone along with cherished members of his immediate family. They had since been buried in Maiduguri today. May Allah (swt) admit them into Aljannah Firdausih,” he added.
