PORT HARCOURT – The Police in Rivers State on Monday said the High Court in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the State had been razed by fire..
She said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Tunde Ogunsakin, had visited the scene with the Anti-Bomb Team of the command.
Koko said the police team collected bits and pieces of what was left of the building for analysis.
“There was no evidence of explosion; no shock waves and no bang. The command however observed burning that resulted in conflagrations’’, she said.
The spokeswoman said the commissioner visited the judge of the high court, Charles Wali, at his Ahoada residence, who said he was to preside over some cases on the day.
She said that the police had reinforced security in the court premises and living quarters of judiciary staff in the state to forestall similar happening.
“The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and the Police Bomb Squad have been mandated to fish out the perpetrators of the crime’’, she said.
Koko said no arrest had been made over the incident.
