Fire razes popular hotel in Anambra

A devastating fire has ravaged the Sopurum Hotel in Nkwelle, a bustling city in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The flames engulfed a significant portion of the building, causing extensive damage.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, although reports indicate that it began at approximately 4:30 am on Monday.

Prompt action was taken, as fire service personnel from both Delta and Anambra states swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze.

Efforts to reach Martins Agbili, the Fire Chief of Anambra State, for comment were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to his phone went unanswered.

Fortunately, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, provided confirmation of the fire incident.

He assured the public that the situation was under control, emphasizing that no loss of life had occurred.

The authorities had promptly responded to the early morning emergency, deploying their personnel to the affected area.

Stringent security measures were implemented to prevent any acts of vandalism.

Ikenga added that the firefighting team was actively working to contain the fire and manage the situation on the ground.
