Gombe -The first batch of pilgrims from Gombe state had been airlifted to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The pilgrims, 475 of them, departed Gombe Airport at about 6.30pm, after completing the necessary formalities.

Addressing the pilgrims shortly before their departure, the Grand Khadi of Gombe State, AlhajiAbdullahi Mai-Kano, urged them to consider the pilgrimage as an opportunity to get closer to God Almighty.
He also called on them to be good ambassadors of the state and the country at large, as well as pray for the country to move forward.

Alhaji Usman Gurama, Executive Secretary of Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, advised pilgrims that were yet to be airlifted, to be on the alert as the flight schedule would be enforced strictly
According to him, all arrangements have been concluded to ensure a hitch-free airlift.(NAN)
