ABUJA – Nigeria’s under-21 teams have crashed out of the ongoing FIVB U-21 Male and Female Beach Volleyball Championships in the group stages at Larnaka in Cyprus.

Their exit was after the male team won only one out of five matches while the female team lost all their five matches.

The championships have 32 teams each in the male and female categories.

Nigeria’s male team lost to hosts Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Norway and Switzerland, but could only defeat Niger Republic in their last Pool A match on Saturday.

The win could not help the Nigerian side as they placed fifth on the table, where only four teams were to scale through from the group stage to the first round.

In all five matches played, they won 138 points and lost 212 points to have a ratio point of 0.651.
