Sokoto – A member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sani Yakubu ( APC-Gudu), on Tuesday said that over 100 farmlands had been submerged by flood in Kutufare village in Gudu Local Government Area of the state.

Yakubu disclosed this at the assembly’s session while moving a motion on a matter of urgent attention.

He called on the state government to intervene in order to reduce the suffering of the victims.

“The local government area has been totally cut off from the other parts of the state by the flood.

“This has caused so much hardships for the people and if steps are not taken urgently, the flood could reach the headquarters of the local government, ” the lawmaker warned.

He also called on the state government to divert the water by constructing a dam in the area, to prevent further flooding.
