Flying Eagles Star, Piagbara, saves Sharks from home defeat

Port Harcourt – National U-20 striker, Christian Piagbara, saved Sharks FC of Port Harcourt from home defeat during a replay of a week 22 Glo Premier League match against Rangers international of Enugu.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Piagbara had equalised for Sharks in the 90th minute of the match staged at the Sharks Stadium early on Monday.

The match was re-scheduled to Monday, because of heavy rains on Sunday that made play difficult at the Sharks stadium in the 73rd minute.

Rangers’ Bobby Clement had scored for his side in the 62nd minute before the postponement.

Rangers’ Coach, Imama Amapakabo, said after the match that he was disappointed by his players after they failed many times to retain possession of the ball.

“We could not keep possession of the ball. We were not able to put passes together and I expected my players to know that in such circumstance, we should retain possession of the ball,” he said.

Sharks Coach, Festus Allen, commended his players for salvaging a point during the replay.

“We had less than 20 minutes to continue from Sunday`s match and we were able to equalise. I praise my players for their fighting spirit,’’ he said.

Allen said the team would work hard to win their next away match against Akwa United in Uyo. (NAN)
