New Delhi  –   At least 48,700 units of Ford Motor Company’s EcoSport compact sports utility vehicle were recalled in India to fix faulty fuel and brake lines and rear folding seats, the automaker said Friday.

Ford India Private Ltd. said in a statement that a total of 48,000 EcoSport diesel vehicles made between April 2013 and June 2014 were being recalled.

It stated that the vehicles were being recalled to install a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines.

“Another 700 EcoSport vehicles fitted with a 60/40 rear folding seat, made between January and February 2016, were also being recalled.

“On certain vehicles, the 40-per-cent rear seat backrest might have been assembled with bolts that do not meet Ford’s material specification, potentially causing the bolts to break,” it said.

The company said there had been no customer complaints, accidents or injuries as a result of these concerns.

Launched in 2013 in India, Ford EcoSport is the automaker’s best-selling car in the country. (dpa/NAN)
