ABUJA – A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi District, Abuja on Monday adjourned trial in the forgery case against the President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki; his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
The case which also involved six others has been adjourned to September 28, 2016.
Mr. Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minster of Justice filed the forgery case against Saraki, Ekweremadu and others.
Also facing trial are a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa and deputy clerk, Benedict Efetubiri.
They are being tried for allegedly doctoring the Senate Standing Order (Rules) ahead of the election of Principal Officers of the Senate in the 8th Assembly.
The defendants were earlier arraigned on June 27, 2016, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery but they pleaded not guilty.
