Abuja- A former Chairman of the FCT Football Association (FA), Emmanuel Attah, on Monday in Abuja donated a trophy to the association for its ongoing FCT Football League.
Attah, while presenting the trophy at the Area 3 football pitch, said the donation was his way of giving back to his community.
“I feel humbled to be with my family members, because the FCT FA is my family. It is just my way of supporting my people, because I am part of them.
“The present Chairman, Musa Talle, was my deputy when I was the Chairman for six years and he was loyal.
“Till now, there is nothing he does in the FCT that he doesn’t consult me.
“So, I feel a way of encouraging and supporting him is to donate the trophy. Having seen hundreds of youths participating in the league, there should be a prize for the winner to take home,” Attah said.
The former FA chairman, who is also the Super Eagles’ Team Co-ordinator, said he was impressed with the standard of the league which has grown over the years.
“I am impressed with the organisation and this encouraged me because the league has taken a different dimension from what it used to be. The publicity now has been wonderful.
“So, I say `thank you’ to Talle for carrying on from where I stopped,’’ Attah said.
In his response, Talle said the trophy would bring about stiffer competition amongst the participating teams, knowing that something was at stake to be won.
“I thank the former chairman for his gesture and we want to appreciate him for remembering us.
“He was our leader and he will continue to be one.
“This trophy will go a long way in making competition among the players stiffer than it used to be,” Talle said.
