Former Delta Military Governor, Col. Dungs, dies at 64

JOS – Retired Col. John David Dungs, former military governor of Delta State, is dead, deceased’s younger brother, Mr Sunday Dungs, said on Friday in Jos.

He told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview that “Col. Dungs is late. That is only thing I can tell you for now.’’

younger Dungs hung up thereafter, but family sources indicated that retired officer slumped in his Rayfield, Jos, residence.

The sources added that he died on the way to the hospital.

Dungs had been particularly devastating for the family, lost the father, Chief Dung Jok, last week.

Jok, the District Head of Riyom, in , had been buried as the , David, died on Friday.

“The is particularly shocking because Col. Dungs’ father is in the mortuary, waiting to be buried,’’ Mr Dan Manjang, former (Media) to Gov. Jonah Jang, told NAN.

Dungs’ demise is also devastating for the Berom ethnic group, after the sudden of former , John Wash Pam , on 1.

Pam, 73, was Deputy between 1979 and 1983, died at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The late senator, whose death was confirmed by his , Ganan, and Special Assistant, Williams Chieshe, hailed from Foron in Barkin Ladi Local Government of . (NAN)
